15 Dec 2008I almost didn’t post a dance today. I’m not feeling very dance-y right now, having just received a double dose of devastating news on top of a scoop of frustration for breakfast. I suppose really none of it is MY news – but I care about my friends probably more than I do myself. I’d rather have my own pain, knowing I can bear it, than see my friends in pain and know there is nothing I can do to alleviate it.
After reeling for a hour or so, I turned to watching all the videos “to be watched” I let build up in my inbox, because 1)it takes time, and 2)frequently my Internet connection isn’t good enough to watch out here at home. So I always promise myself I’ll watch while I’m in town, and then forget. LOL.
This vid cheered me up considerably.
It has always been one of the greatest joys in my life to do turn outs and watch the horses dash and play and just explode with the joy of life. So we are going to call this the Monday Happy Dance.
Now – fast forward to Sunday, and Sitka:
All Sunday wants for Christmas is a new foreleg. Maybe you can help a little?
I was going to try and get a couple of “artistic nudes” into the YBA ACEO Call to Art today – but I am not in the mood to deal with a bunch of crap about artistic nudes must not be even faintly erotic – only ugly people please. Because artists don’t want to immortalize the beautiful human body – heaven forbid someone might find it sexually stimulating. No. Not in the mood.
Probably wouldn’t work for anyone else – but one of my winter blues cures has been to re-read The Hobbit and LOTR every winter, for the last twenty five years or so. Some winters I barely scratch the first chapters of Bilbos tales. Some winters I find myself reading the appendixes at the end of LOTR. So far this year, I’m about half through the Hobbit. I may be done with it by tomorrow.
Hubby is on his way home, though – and says he has two packages from the mail. This means my new modem (overnighted my ass) is probably here, and at least one of the little solstice treats I gave myself. Maybe there will be some nice ATCs in the mailbox, too. Oh – I got a couple of great ones Friday, too – and a very special postcard. One “ATC” is huge – but it’s also quite fun so who am I to complain? The other is about half-crushed. Note to anyone mailing anything this holiday season, the post office seems to have decided to ignore “Hand Cancel” completely (they can, if they want, it is optional) and this is the second ATC I’ve gotten that was probably really pretty – BEFORE it went through the mashing flat machine and had the beads/rhinestones/sparkly bumpy thingies pulverized to sparkly powder. So if something isn’t just absolutely flat, like a photo, I’d be putting it in a padded mailer. Just sayin’
Right now, my heart just hurts. Tolkein and hot cider for me.
Blessedbe
